The Short Answer

Lizzy's Diner on Judson Road is the best breakfast in Longview, a no-frills diner in a former convenience store serving pancakes, waffles, eggs, and strong coffee all day from 7 a.m. The Texas Cafe on North Eastman Road is the Sunday and sit-down pick, and Nanny Goat's, a block up Judson, does the best breakfast tacos to go.

Lizzy's Diner

Judson Road, north of downtown · $

Known for Breakfast served all day, pancakes and waffles first

Lizzy's is the name that comes up most in Longview breakfast roundups, and it is the one we would send a visitor to first. Texas Monthly lists it as a diner in a former convenience store that serves breakfast all day, with pancakes and waffles, eggs, bacon, and good strong coffee. That is the whole pitch, and it does it every morning.

When KNUE asked listeners for the best breakfast in Longview in December 2025, Lizzy's was a leading vote-getter. The all-day service is the practical advantage. Country fried steak and eggs at 1 p.m. is not a special request here, it is the menu.

Go-to order or tip: Its own ordering page shows Monday as closed while other listings show it open, so call before a Monday visit.

Hours
Roughly 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., listings disagree on whether it opens Monday

The Texas Cafe

North Eastman Road, north Longview · $$

Known for A full sit-down breakfast seven days a week, including a biscuit and gravy Benedict

The newest serious breakfast room in town. The Longview Chamber of Commerce held its ribbon cutting in February 2026, and at least one reviewer already calls it the best breakfast in Longview. The menu runs wider than a diner, with omelets, French toast, crepes, chicken fried steak, and Benedicts.

The one to order is the Texas Benedict, which swaps English muffins and hollandaise for grilled biscuit halves, sausage patties, and sausage gravy. It also opens at 7 on Sunday, which most of this list does not.

Go-to order or tip: Make it your Sunday plan. It is one of the few kitchens on this list running a full breakfast menu at 7 a.m. on a Sunday.

Hours
Opens 7 a.m. every day, Sunday until 3 p.m., later on other days with an afternoon prep break

Nanny Goat's Cafe & Feed Bin

Judson Road, a block from Lizzy's · $

Known for Breakfast tacos and the Egg Sammie, built to go

Nanny Goat's has been a local favorite since 2012, and it sits inside a working convenience store on Judson Road with its own separate dining room. The Longview News-Journal profiled it as a grab-and-go breakfast built for people on the way to work, and that is still the strength.

There are six breakfast taco combinations, from chorizo, egg, and cheese to spinach, feta, and onion, plus a breakfast burrito and the Egg Sammie, scrambled eggs and cheese on toast or a biscuit. If you want to sit, the menu now runs to pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and a Texas Eggs Benedict on garlic toast with brisket.

Go-to order or tip: Grab a muffin top or a cinnamon roll for later. The baked goods are what regulars mention after the tacos.

Hours
Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m., breakfast until 10 on weekdays and later on Saturday, closed Sunday

High Street Donuts

Downtown, on South High Street · $

Known for Donuts and kolaches from an owner-run downtown counter

The downtown donut shop, run by owners Lenny and Mikki Ean according to the Longview News-Journal. It turns out donuts, kolaches including a jalapeno version, croissants, and cinnamon rolls, plus coffee and boba drinks for the second half of the order.

It is also a few blocks from Sunbird Barbecue, and the two have collaborated. The News-Journal reported a pulled pork sandwich on a donut bun and a brisket kolache made with Sunbird, which tells you this is a shop with a sense of humor about breakfast.

Go-to order or tip: Go early and on a weekday. It closes before lunch and the weekend specialty donuts draw a line.

Hours
Early weekday opening, closing late morning or around noon, closed Sunday

Lovely Eatery

East Marshall Avenue · $

Known for Mexican breakfast plates, from chilaquiles to machaca

A breakfast and lunch counter where the morning menu does the heavy lifting. Breakfast tacos and burritos, a breakfast torta, chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, huevos a la Mexicana, and a machaca plate sit next to an American breakfast plate and pancakes.

The surprise is the crepes, with banana Nutella and strawberry Nutella versions on the same menu as the tamale plate. Reviewers single out the breakfast burritos.

Go-to order or tip: Sources disagree on whether it opens at 7 or 8 a.m., so do not plan a 7 a.m. meeting here without calling first.

Hours
Monday to Saturday, morning to mid-afternoon, closed Sunday

City Diner

West Marshall Avenue · $

Known for The two-egg plate with hash browns

A plain, family-style diner on the west side that serves breakfast and lunch and nothing fancier. Pancakes, omelets, biscuits and gravy, and a two-egg plate with hash browns are the core of it, at diner prices.

It made the KNUE listener roundup in December 2025 for exactly that reason, and it is the most convenient sit-down breakfast if you are coming in from the west on Marshall Avenue.

Go-to order or tip: Most listings show an 8 a.m. start, later than the Judson Road pair, so it suits a slow morning rather than an early one.

Hours
Breakfast and lunch daily, most listings show 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Roost

East Hawkins Parkway, north Longview · $

Known for Pancakes, including the three-stack Texas Breakfast

Roost is a small Texas chicken salad and deli chain, so it sits below the independents, but its Longview store does a real breakfast and serves it all day. The Texas Breakfast is three pancakes, three eggs, a meat, and seasoned potatoes, and there are omelets, French toast, breakfast tacos, and a senior breakfast menu as well.

KNUE listeners named it for the pancakes, and Stacker's 2025 roundup of Longview's highest-rated breakfast spots included it. The dining room is small, which is the common complaint.

Go-to order or tip: Order the pancakes and get it to go if the room is full. Seating is the weak point, not the food.

Hours
Opens 7 a.m. daily with breakfast all day, closing times vary by listing

Cargo

The Crossing at Main and Main, Loop 281 and Eastman Road · $$

Known for A weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas and pickleball

Cargo is a restaurant and entertainment complex built from shipping containers, with pickleball courts and a putting course, and it opened in August 2025. It is a dinner and drinks venue first, so it is here for one reason, the weekend brunch.

The brunch menu runs lemon ricotta pancakes, chicken and waffles, stuffed French toast, and biscuits and gravy, with bottomless mimosas and a candied bacon Bloody Mary on the drinks side. Nobody else in Longview does a brunch that doubles as an outing.

Go-to order or tip: Weekends only, and the brunch window is short. Arrive at 10 rather than drifting in at noon.

Hours
Brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m., closed Monday and Tuesday

How did we pick these?

We started with the places Longview people actually name. KNUE asked its listeners for the best breakfast in town in December 2025, Stacker ranked the highest-rated breakfast spots in March 2025, and we added the local reporting in the Longview News-Journal and the Longview Chamber of Commerce directory. Every entry above was checked against its own site, ordering page, or chamber listing, plus at least one independent source.

Then we cut. Geography went first: Miss Minnie's Place is in Hallsville, Texas Traditions is in Gladewater, and White Oak Cafe is in White Oak, and all three show up on Longview breakfast searches. The national chains went next. IHOP, Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, Shipley Do-Nuts, and Jucys Taco, which added breakfast in 2025, all exist and all work, but none of them is a reason to choose Longview.

Deb's Downtown Cafe on Tyler Street got a News-Journal write-up for its weekday breakfast years ago, but every current listing we found shows lunch only, so it is out. Twelve Kitchen + Cocktails announced a Longview location on Hawkins Parkway in early 2026, but we could not confirm it has opened. Mi Casita on North Spur 63, which topped Stacker's list, is a genuine breakfast taco destination, but we rank it in our Longview Mexican guide rather than twice.

There are no partners, clients, or sponsored entries on this list. Where listings disagreed on hours, we described the pattern instead of printing a time we could not stand behind.

What should you know before you go?

The early crowd lives on Judson Road. Lizzy's at 1301 and Nanny Goat's at 1401 sit a block apart, both open around 7, and both fill with people on the way to work. Lizzy's is the sit-down plate. Nanny Goat's is the taco in the truck.

Sunday is where the list thins out. Nanny Goat's, High Street Donuts, and Lovely Eatery are all closed. The Texas Cafe is the safest Sunday answer because its 7 a.m. Sunday opening is confirmed by both its chamber listing and its map listings.

Place Opens Closed Order this
Lizzy's Diner About 7 a.m. Possibly Monday, call ahead Pancakes or a waffle
The Texas Cafe 7 a.m. daily Never The Texas Benedict
Nanny Goat's 7 a.m. Mon to Sat Sunday Chorizo, egg, and cheese taco
High Street Donuts Early, times vary by listing Sunday A jalapeno kolache
Lovely Eatery 7 or 8 a.m. Mon to Sat Sunday Chilaquiles
City Diner About 8 a.m. None listed Two eggs with hash browns
Roost 7 a.m. None listed The Texas Breakfast
Cargo 10 a.m. Sat and Sun Monday and Tuesday Lemon ricotta pancakes

Breakfast ends early. Nanny Goat's switches to lunch at 10 on weekdays, High Street Donuts is done before noon, and Lizzy's closes around 2. If you are a late riser, go to Roost or The Texas Cafe.

What if you only have one morning in Longview?

Make it a weekday. Get to High Street Donuts early for a kolache and a coffee, then make the short drive north to Lizzy's for a proper plate of pancakes. If it is a weekend, The Texas Cafe at 7 on Sunday or Cargo's brunch at 10 on Saturday covers it, and the best things to do in Longview will fill the rest of the day.

What should you do next?

Pick by the clock. Before 8 on a weekday means Judson Road, Lizzy's to sit or Nanny Goat's to go. Sunday means The Texas Cafe. A weekend morning with friends and a drink means Cargo.

Then keep eating. Lunch and dinner are covered in the best restaurants in Longview, the pits a few blocks from High Street Donuts are ranked in the best barbecue in Longview, and everything else we have published on the city is on the Longview hub. If you are heading west on I-20, we also ranked the best breakfast in Tyler, and every other town is on the breakfast category page.
