The Best Coffee Shops in Longview, Texas

Five Longview coffee shops ranked and verified, from a downtown roaster that pours until 10 p.m. to a Gilmer Road drive-thru with no website at all.

The Short Answer

Silver Grizzly Espresso at 100 W Tyler St is the best coffee shop in Longview, a downtown roaster and espresso bar open until 10 p.m. six days a week. Coffee & T's on Glencrest Lane is the pick for a family-run room with its own baking, and Yukon Coffee on Nealy Way is the drive-thru that opens at 5.30 a.m.

Silver Grizzly Espresso

Downtown, on West Tyler Street · $

Known for Roasting its own coffee and keeping the only late downtown room in town

Silver Grizzly is the only business on this list that roasts, and that single fact reorders everything else. It bags and sells named single origins from Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Brazil alongside its own Gradient, Homage, Up Top and Dark Matter blends, runs a subscription, and sells brewing equipment off the same counter it pours from. The specialty coffee directory Coffeeroast lists it as a Longview roaster, and the specialty map Sprudge carries it too.

It also supplies other East Texas shops wholesale. Common Sense, the craft coffee shop in a former auto service station in downtown Lufkin, brews Silver Grizzly beans, and The East Texas Weekend reports baristas and owners elsewhere crediting the shop with recipes, beans and espresso machine help. On top of that it pours local craft beer, bakes pastries, rents the room out, and stays open to 10 p.m., which nothing else here comes close to.

Go-to order or tip: This is the only Longview coffee shop open in the evening. Buy a bag while you are there, because the beans are the reason the rest of East Texas knows the name.

Hours
Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Coffee & T's

Glencrest Lane, off South Mobberly · $

Known for Breads and breakfast pie baked in house, not bought in

The highest-rated independent in Longview on Google, and the only one that bakes its own bread. The shop makes pumpkin, banana nut and blueberry loaves plus a breakfast pie in house, which is a different proposition from the pastry case everybody else buys from. It also sells coffee beans, t-shirts and handmade leather bags off the counter.

It is family owned and it started as a mobile coffee truck before the Glencrest Lane shop opened, which explains the small footprint and the long regular list. The East Texas business directory ETX Discovered lists dine-in, outdoor seating and curbside pickup here.

Go-to order or tip: Go for the bread, not just the drink. The published hours vary between listings, so ring ahead if you are making a special trip.

Hours
Opens around 6 a.m. on weekdays and closes mid afternoon to early evening. Listings disagree on the close, so call first

Yukon Coffee

The Crossing at Main and Main, by Eastman Road and Loop 281 · $

Known for A double-lane drive-thru and the earliest open in Longview

Yukon opened on 24 May 2022 with a double-lane drive-thru, which the Longview News-Journal covered at the time, and it is owned by Art Bradshaw and Brandon Bolding. There is no indoor seating at all. You get two drive-thru lanes, a walk-up window and a patio, and the 5.30 a.m. open is the earliest of anything ranked here.

Yukon does not roast. It says it buys from a local roaster and builds every espresso drink on that bean, and its owners have lived and worked in Longview for more than thirty years. This is the pre-work stop on the north side, not the place to settle in with a laptop.

Go-to order or tip: Use the drive-thru lanes before 7 a.m. and the walk-up window after. There is nowhere to sit inside, so plan around that.

Hours
Monday to Saturday, 5.30 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed Sunday

COFFEE Mill

West Longview, on Gilmer Road · $

Known for A drive-thru only window on the west side, locally owned, no website

COFFEE Mill is the one on this list with no website, only a Facebook page, and it still carries more Google reviews than most of its competitors. It is drive-thru only. There is parking if you want to walk up, but there is no room to sit, and reviewers consistently describe it as locally owned and operated rather than part of anything.

Its Tripadvisor listing describes the business as established in 1994 and as Longview's first specialty coffee shop, which we could not confirm against a second source, so treat the date as the owner's claim and the longevity as the point. The Longview News-Journal has referred to it as The Coffee Mill at 2001 Gilmer Road, which is how older locals still say it.

Go-to order or tip: It is the west-side option, five minutes from the Gilmer Road and Loop 281 junction, and it beats every chain in that corner of town on price.

Hours
Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Sunday

Evergreen Coffee & Dessert

North Longview, on Evergreen Street · $$

Known for The only Longview coffee shop open seven days a week, plus boba and dessert

Evergreen is the answer to the two questions this list keeps running into, which are Sunday and the evening. It is the only independent here open seven days, and it runs to 9 p.m. on weekdays. Nothing else on the north side is open at either time.

The menu leans further than espresso. Boba, horchata lattes and tiger lattes are what people order, and there is a dessert case alongside. It carries the second highest review count of anything on this list, and the recurring complaint is slow service when the room is full rather than anything about the drinks.

Go-to order or tip: Come here on a Sunday or after 6 p.m., when Silver Grizzly is the only other option in Longview that is still open.

Hours
Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

How did we pick these?

We started from the Longview News-Journal's own business coverage, which is the only local source that has actually reported on coffee openings in this city, then checked every candidate against its own website. Three of the five above have one. Addresses and phone numbers here come from the business or from the city's local business directory rather than from a delivery app, and where a shop publishes no hours we say so instead of guessing.

That cut the list hard. Longview turns up in a lot of auto-generated "best coffee in Longview" pages, and several of the names on them do not survive a check. One Sheep Coffee & Tea opened at 906 W Loop 281 in 2021 and we could find no current listing, site or review for it. Uncle Joe's Coffee & Cones announced a 711 Estes Drive location and we found nothing live either. A "Main Street Coffee House" appears on one aggregator's drive-thru list with no address anywhere. All three are off this list.

We also left out two places that are real but are not coffee shops. The Texas Cafe on North Eastman Road is a good breakfast and lunch room that happens to run a specialty coffee till, and Cafe Barron's on West Loop 281 is a dinner restaurant. Putting either under this title would misrepresent it. The chains are out for the same reason the Tyler list keeps them out, which is that nobody needs a guide to find a 7 Brew. No business on this list has any relationship with us.

What should you know before you go?

Longview coffee is a morning town with one evening exception. Three of these five are shut by 6 p.m. and three are closed all day Sunday, so the practical question is which one is open when you need it.

Shop Opens Closes Sunday Drive-thru Seating
Silver Grizzly 7 a.m. 10 p.m. Closed No Yes, large
Coffee & T's around 6 a.m. Varies, afternoon to early evening Short, varies No Yes, small
Yukon Coffee 5.30 a.m. 8 p.m. Closed Yes, two lanes Patio only
COFFEE Mill 6 a.m. 6 p.m. Closed Yes, only No
Evergreen 7 a.m. weekdays 9 p.m. weekdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. No Yes

Geography matters more here than in most East Texas towns, because these five are spread across roughly eight miles. Silver Grizzly is downtown on West Tyler, with free street parking around the square and Wild Honey Creamery two doors down. Coffee & T's sits in a small strip on Glencrest Lane south of the centre. Yukon is in The Crossing at Main and Main out by Eastman Road and Loop 281, so it is the one you pass heading north. COFFEE Mill is west on Gilmer Road and Evergreen is north on Evergreen Street. There is no walkable cluster. Pick by where you already are.

One more note on hours. Coffee & T's is the only entry where published hours disagree between listings, with one source giving a 6 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. weekday pattern and another a much shorter week. We have described the pattern rather than committed to a time, so call (903) 237-9625 before a special trip.

What about beans to take home?

If you want coffee rather than a drink, the answer in Longview is one address. Silver Grizzly sells its own roasts by the bag at 100 W Tyler St, both as blends and as named single origins, and it ships and subscribes. COFFEE Mill and Coffee & T's both sell beans over the counter, but neither roasts them.

That is a thinner roasting scene than Tyler's, 35 miles west, where two independent roasters supply the local shops. Longview's single roaster is unusually influential for a city this size, though. Its beans are being poured in Lufkin, 90 miles south, which is not something most East Texas roasters can claim.

What should you do next?

Start downtown on West Tyler Street. Silver Grizzly is the best coffee in Longview by a clear margin and it is the only one you can visit at 8 p.m., so it works for a morning flat white or an evening meeting, and the beans are worth the detour on their own.

If you are driving rather than sitting, take Yukon's drive-thru on the way north or COFFEE Mill on the way west, and save Evergreen for the Sunday or the late evening when almost nothing else in town is open. For the plates that go with the coffee, our guide to breakfast in Longview covers the morning rooms, the Longview city hub collects everything we have published about the city, and the best coffee shops in Texas hub compares Longview with the rest of the state, including Tyler, where two roasters supply a nine-shop scene.

Frequently Asked Questions

One business does. Silver Grizzly Espresso at 100 W Tyler St downtown roasts and bags its own coffee, sells named single origins and blends by the bag, runs a subscription, and supplies other East Texas shops wholesale. Everybody else in town buys beans in, and Yukon Coffee says it buys from a local roaster.

Yukon Coffee on Nealy Way has two drive-thru lanes plus a walk-up window and no indoor seating at all. COFFEE Mill on Gilmer Road is drive-thru only. Among the chains, 7 Brew on McCann Road and the Dutch Bros locations are drive-thru models as well.

Two places. Silver Grizzly Espresso downtown runs to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Evergreen Coffee & Dessert on Evergreen Street runs to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 p.m. at weekends. Yukon closes at 8, and COFFEE Mill and Coffee & T's are shut by late afternoon or early evening.

Evergreen Coffee & Dessert is the only independent on this list that opens on a Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Silver Grizzly, Yukon and COFFEE Mill are all closed Sunday, and Coffee & T's publishes a short weekend schedule that varies between listings.

Both turn up in older Longview coffee coverage and neither has a current trace we could verify. One Sheep Coffee & Tea opened at 906 W Loop 281 in 2021 and Uncle Joe's Coffee & Cones announced a 711 Estes Drive site, and we found no live listing, site or recent review for either, so we left them off rather than send you to a closed door.

7 Brew at 3611 McCann Rd and the Dutch Bros and Starbucks locations are all real, busy and fine. None of them is why you would read a Longview coffee guide, and none of them roasts or bakes anything in Longview, so we kept them out of the ranking and named them here instead.
