The Best Restaurants in Corsicana, Texas

Nine Corsicana restaurants verified against the chamber directory, the city visitor list and their own sites, from a Texas Monthly pit to a 1941 Tex-Mex room.

The Very Best of Texas Editors 4 min read How we rank →

The Short Answer

K&K Bar-B-Que is the best restaurant in Corsicana, the only kitchen in town with a Texas Monthly review and the highest rated place in Navarro County on review count. Across the Street Bistro by Andreas is the chef driven dinner room on Beaton Street, and Old Mexican Inn has been serving Tex-Mex here since 1941.

K&K Bar-B-Que

South Beaton Street · $$

Known for The only Corsicana pit with a Texas Monthly review, and the best brisket in Navarro County

Kamar and Kisha Chambers took over Clyde's Bar-B-Que in Corsicana in 2009 and later opened K&K in the same building. Texas Monthly reviewed it and lists Kamar Chambers as pitmaster working oak and pecan in an offset smoker, a switch from the mesquite he burned at Clyde's. No other restaurant in this town has that kind of outside credential.

It also carries the deepest review record in Corsicana, roughly 4.8 across about a thousand ratings on Restaurant Guru, which is a far larger sample than anything else here and the reason it is ranked first rather than second.

Go-to order or tip: The Texas Monthly review was written when K&K was at 1801 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, in the old Clyde's building. Current listings put it downtown at 211 S Beaton, so use the Beaton Street address and not the one in the review.

Hours
Tuesday to Saturday from 11am, closed Sunday and Monday, closing time varies by listing so go early

Across the Street Bistro by Andreas

Historic downtown, North Beaton Street · $$$

Known for The one genuinely chef driven dinner room in Corsicana

This is Corsicana's special occasion restaurant, a steak and seafood room run by chef Andreas Kotsifos, whose own site credits him with more than 40 years in kitchens and who also owns Andreas Prime Steaks & Seafood in Allen and Uptown Dallas. It is the only place in town where the cooking is the point rather than the convenience.

Its own site publishes 125 N Beaton Street, while third party listings carry 123 N Beaton. Same block, two house numbers, and we are printing the one the restaurant itself uses. The site also recommends booking ahead for weekend evenings, which is worth doing in a town with one room like this.

Go-to order or tip: The bistro and the diner below share the same door and the same owner. Daytime is the diner, evening is the bistro, so check which one you are actually booking.

Hours
Dinner only, evenings into the night, with reservations advised on Friday and Saturday

Across the Street Diner

Historic downtown, North Beaton Street · $

Known for A working soda fountain, and the most reliable published hours downtown

The diner bills itself as Texas' oldest soda fountain and it is the daytime half of Andreas Kotsifos's Beaton Street operation. Breakfast, lunch, Saturday brunch, and milkshakes and malts pulled at the fountain bar, with patio seating out front on the brick street.

It is also the one restaurant in Corsicana that publishes a clean, day by day schedule on its own website, which after three days of cross checking this town counts for a lot. If you want to eat downtown before 4pm without making a phone call first, this is the answer.

Go-to order or tip: Sit at the fountain bar rather than a table. It is the whole reason the room is worth a detour, and the seats are usually open on a weekday morning.

Hours
Breakfast Monday to Saturday 7am to 11am, lunch Monday to Friday 11am to 4pm, Saturday brunch 11am to 4pm, closed Sunday

Old Mexican Inn Restaurant & Cantina

West 7th Avenue · $$

Known for Corsicana's first Mexican restaurant, open since 1941, and the orange dip

Known locally as OMI, this is the oldest restaurant on the list and the one with the strongest documentary record. The Texas Historical Commission's Texas Treasure Business Award roll lists it with a founding year of 1941, and the Corsicana Daily Sun calls it the first Mexican restaurant to open in town. It started downtown and moved to the West 7th Avenue building in 1965.

Still run by the Flores family. The thing to order is the orange dip, a house recipe the Daily Sun reports began life as a salad dressing before the current name stuck. It is the one dish in Corsicana that people drive in for.

Go-to order or tip: Ask for the orange dip with the chips. It is not the standard queso and it is the reason the place has a reputation beyond Navarro County.

Hours
Lunch and dinner most days, listings disagree on closing times so call before a late visit

Napoli's Italian Restaurant & Bar

Historic downtown, East Collin Street · $$

Known for New York style pizza and scratch pasta a block off the courthouse

Napoli's publishes its own menu with prices, which in this town makes it unusually easy to plan around. The house favourites it lists are shrimp alfredo, chicken parmesana, a Margherita pie and a nine topping New York style Napoli's Special, with lunch specials Tuesday through Friday and homemade garlic rolls at under four dollars.

It is the only full service Italian kitchen in Corsicana and it sits on Collin Street one block from the courthouse square, which makes it the obvious downtown dinner when the bistro is booked or closed.

Go-to order or tip: The lunch specials only run Tuesday to Friday. If you want the cheaper entry point, go midweek at noon rather than on a weekend.

Hours
Opens at 11am, closed Monday in every listing we checked

Brick Streets Brewery

Historic downtown, East 5th Avenue · $$

Known for Corsicana's first and only craft brewery, with a real kitchen attached

Brewmaster Clayton Goins opened Brick Streets in October 2021 in a small red brick building downtown, and it is the first brewery Corsicana and Navarro County have ever had. The eatery side is not an afterthought. The most ordered items on the delivery listings are a Brewhouse Burger, a patty melt and a chicken poblano wrap.

House beers include Cold Beer, Crude Dude and Hop Around and Find Out. It is a small room, so it fills on a Friday evening, and the kitchen runs a lunch window Thursday through Saturday that most people in town do not seem to know about.

Go-to order or tip: Thursday to Saturday it opens at 11.30am. That midday window is the quietest time to get a table and the kitchen is running.

Hours
Tuesday and Wednesday from 4pm, Thursday to Saturday from 11.30am, last call 9pm, closed Sunday and Monday

Mas Queso Tex-Mex Restaurant

Historic downtown, North Commerce Street · $

Known for The downtown Tex-Mex counter, and a green queso that reviewers warn is hot

Mas Queso is on the Corsicana & Navarro County Chamber of Commerce directory with its address and phone, which is how we confirmed it, and it is the downtown alternative to the drive out to West 7th. Reviewers single out the fish tacos and the pork, and note that the green queso is considerably spicier than the standard.

Review scores run from 3.9 to 4.5 depending on platform and sample size, which is a wide spread on small numbers, so treat it as a solid everyday lunch rather than a destination. The recurring complaint is portion size on the fajitas.

Go-to order or tip: Order the fish tacos over the fajitas. The fajita portion is the one thing reviewers consistently push back on.

Hours
Opens around 11am daily with a shorter Sunday, and closes earlier than the posted times on quiet nights

The Gipsy Joint & BBQ

South US Highway 287 · $$

Known for Barbecue plus seafood and burgers on the highway south of town

A chamber member on the 287 frontage south of Corsicana, running brisket, pulled pork, ribs, sausage, chicken and turkey alongside a broader menu of seafood, wings and burgers. The items reviewers mention most are the barbecue baked potato and the chopped sandwich.

It is the second pit on this list and the one you will pass if you are coming up 287 rather than I-45. We are not printing exact hours because the listings put the close anywhere between 7pm and 9pm depending on the day and the platform.

Go-to order or tip: Get the loaded barbecue baked potato rather than a plate. It is the order the reviews keep returning to and it is cheaper than the three meat.

Hours
Opens late morning seven days, Sunday closes earliest, with listings disagreeing by an hour either way

Moontower at the Oaks

North Business 45, at The Oaks golf course · $$

Known for The late bar and grill at the golf course, and the only kitchen in town open past 10pm

Moontower is the grill attached to The Oaks golf course, which the Sanders family bought in 2015, and it is a chamber member under the specialty dining heading. Reviewers name the Philly cheese steak, the dirty fries and the street tacos, and listings mention a Tuesday taco night with brisket and pork.

It is last on this list because it is the hardest to pin down. Published closing times range from 10pm to 2am across platforms and days, so this is the late option rather than the planned one. Call before a long drive.

Go-to order or tip: It is on Business 45, the old highway through town, not on the interstate itself. Set the address rather than following signs for I-45.

Hours
Closed Monday, open Tuesday to Sunday, running latest on Friday and Saturday nights

How did we pick these?

Corsicana has about 25,000 people and two directories that disagree with each other, so the first job was working out which one to trust. The Corsicana & Navarro County Chamber of Commerce runs a live member directory with a street address and phone number for every entry, and we read its restaurants and specialty dining categories directly. The Visit Corsicana listings run by the city are longer but noticeably less reliable: they put Across the Street Bistro on the I-45 frontage road when its own site says Beaton Street, and they swap addresses between The Olive Branch Eatery, Subway and Uniquely Yours. Where the two conflicted, the chamber won, and where a restaurant publishes its own site, the restaurant won over both.

Four of the nine publish their own websites, which is a better ratio than most towns this size. The rest were confirmed through the chamber plus at least one independent source: Texas Monthly for K&K, the Corsicana Daily Sun and the Texas Historical Commission's Texas Treasure Business Award roll for Old Mexican Inn, and a Dallas beer writer's 2024 visit for Brick Streets.

The cuts mattered more than the inclusions. Roy's Cafe at 306 N Beaton St was the hardest one to leave off, because its own website publishes an address, a phone number and Thursday to Sunday hours, and the chamber lists it. But Hoodline reported in September 2026 that Deborah and Trevor Johnson are still mid restoration on the 1928 building and no public opening date has been set, and Yelp still flags it closed. A restaurant you cannot actually eat at does not go on a list of places to eat. Arlene's Kountry Kitchen is flagged closed on Yelp and Apple Maps, and its listings carry two different addresses and a phone number that belongs to Applebee's. La Pradera is real, open and a chamber member, and we still cut it, because its review scores run from 2.5 to 3.8 across four platforms and the complaints are about service rather than taste. The Olive Branch Eatery is open and well regarded but the chamber and the city give two different street numbers on North Beaton. Ellinya Italian appears in search summaries of the chamber directory and nowhere on the directory itself. Collin Street Bakery is left off on a technicality: it is a bakery and a retail store, not a restaurant, and it already has its place on our guide to things to do in Corsicana.

The chains went out as a matter of course. Chick-fil-A, Chili's, Cotton Patch, Dickey's, Schlotzsky's, McDonald's, Whataburger, Denny's, Waffle House, Cicis and Popeyes are all here and none of them tells you anything about Corsicana. No business on this list is a client of ours. Nothing in our client file matched Corsicana and restaurants, so this is a straight editorial ranking.

What should you know before you go?

Corsicana splits cleanly in two. The independents are downtown, within a few blocks of the Navarro County courthouse on Beaton, Commerce, Collin and 5th. The chains are strung along West 7th Avenue and the I-45 frontage. If you want to eat somewhere that only exists here, stay downtown and walk.

The second thing is timing. This is an early town and a closed Monday town. Two of the nine shut on Monday, two more on Sunday and Monday both, and the posted closing times are optimistic nearly everywhere. Breakfast is the narrowest window of all: Across the Street Diner serves it 7am to 11am and almost nobody else downtown opens before 11.

Restaurant Where Kind Own website Hours confidence
K&K Bar-B-Que 211 S Beaton Barbecue No Low, closed Sun and Mon, go before 6pm
Across the Street Bistro 125 N Beaton Steak and seafood Yes Medium, dinner only, book ahead
Across the Street Diner 125 N Beaton Diner and soda fountain Yes High, day by day on its own site
Old Mexican Inn 2407 W 7th Ave Tex-Mex No Low, call first
Napoli's 111 E Collin St Italian Yes Medium, opens 11am, closed Mon
Brick Streets Brewery 224 E 5th Ave Brewpub Yes High, closed Sun and Mon
Mas Queso 123 N Commerce St Tex-Mex No Low, call first
The Gipsy Joint 4095 S Hwy 287 Barbecue No Low, seven days, times vary
Moontower at the Oaks 2509 N Business 45 Bar and grill No Low, closed Mon, late on weekends

Parking downtown is free and on street, and the brick paving on Beaton is the real thing rather than a streetscape project, so it is slow going. The 287 and Business 45 entries both need a car and neither is walkable from the square.

What should you do next?

Go on a Saturday. It is the one day the whole list is open at once: breakfast and brunch at the soda fountain until 4pm, K&K's pit running from 11, Brick Streets opening at 11.30, and the bistro taking bookings that evening. Order the orange dip at Old Mexican Inn before you leave town, because it is the single dish here you cannot get anywhere else.

If you are building a longer trip, Corsicana is an hour south of Dallas on I-45 and works as a stop rather than a destination. Our guide to things to do in Corsicana covers the Pearce Museum, Pioneer Village and the Palace Theatre, the Corsicana city hub collects everything we have published here, and the best restaurants category has the same treatment for other Texas towns. If barbecue is the point of the drive, the best barbecue in Waco is the next serious stop south on the same side of the state.

Frequently Asked Questions

Collin Street Bakery, which has made fruitcake in Corsicana since 1896 and ships worldwide. It is a bakery and retail store rather than a restaurant, so it is not on the list above, but it is the one Corsicana food name people outside Texas recognise.

Yes, and more than you would expect from a town this size. K&K Bar-B-Que carries a Texas Monthly review and the strongest review record in Navarro County, and The Gipsy Joint runs a second full pit south of town on Highway 287.

Beaton Street and the blocks around it hold most of the independents. Across the Street Diner for breakfast and lunch, the bistro upstairs of it for dinner, Napoli's on Collin Street, Mas Queso on Commerce and Brick Streets Brewery on 5th Avenue are all walkable from the courthouse.

Not as of this writing. Deborah and Trevor Johnson are restoring the 1928 building at 306 N Beaton St and were hiring kitchen staff in autumn 2026, but no public reopening date has been announced and the cafe is still flagged closed on review platforms. We left it off the list for that reason.

About 55 miles south down Interstate 45, which is roughly an hour without traffic. That makes it a straightforward lunch stop on the run between Dallas and Houston and an easy half day out of DFW.
