How did we pick these?
We started from the question that actually decides this category: which roofing companies are physically based in Sulphur Springs or Hopkins County, and which ones are landing pages aimed at the town from somewhere else? Search "roofers in Sulphur Springs" and most of the first page is the second kind.
So the list is built from records that require a real local presence. The RCAT licensed contractor directory, which lists a street address with every license. The Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce member directory. Better Business Bureau profiles filed under a Sulphur Springs address. GAF's certified contractor directory. Then we cross-checked every address and phone number against at least two independent sources before it went in.
That process cut more than it kept. Gordy Roofing is a solid East Texas company, but it is based around Big Sandy and Gilmer and runs a separate Sulphur Springs page with no local office we could verify. Simmons and Sons has been roofing since 1959 out of Wills Point. AVCO works out of Longview. Several more results turned out to be national templates with a town name swapped into the headline. We also cut Pacheco Roofing, which appears to be a genuine local operation but has no address we could confirm anywhere, and S and S Roofing and Remodeling, which is listed at three different Sulphur Springs addresses across three directories and is primarily a remodeler.
One disclosure. H&H Roofing at number seven is a Hello Web Designs client, which is what publishes this site. It is on the list because it is one of the few roofing contractors with a real address inside the city limits, and it is ranked last because its verifiable record is the thinnest of the seven. Everything above it got there on credentials we could check.
What does a credential actually mean in a state with no roofing license?
Texas issues no roofing license. That is the single most useful fact a homeowner here can know, because it means the usual instinct, checking that somebody is licensed, has nothing to check. In practice the substitutes are RCAT's voluntary program, manufacturer certification tiers like GAF Master Elite, and BBB accreditation, and they measure different things.
| Company | Based | Strongest credential | Best for |
| Triple Crown Roofing | Shannon Rd E | RCAT license, GAF Master Elite, NRCA member | Commercial roofs and warranty-backed shingle work |
| Nunez Roofing | Loop 301 | RCAT license, 5.0 review average | Residential repair and replacement, Saturdays |
| COR Roofing | Shannon Rd E | BBB accredited, A plus, trading since 2011 | Roof plus siding plus gutters on one claim |
| Project One Roofing | N Jackson St | GAF Master Elite, five manufacturer certifications | Metal, slate, and unusual roof types |
| DJJ Roofing | S Como St | Chamber member, family owned since 2015 | Inspections and small residential jobs |
| McCormick Construction | Wright St | Chamber member, general contractor | Damage that went past the roof itself |
| H&H Roofing | Finney St | Local address inside the city limits | Straightforward repairs and single-house work |
RCAT is the closest thing to a real license here. GAF Master Elite is a manufacturer tier and its practical value is the Golden Pledge warranty, which only that tier can write. BBB accreditation tells you a company has been complaint-free enough to keep it, not that the crew is good. Read the column above as three different kinds of evidence, not a single score.
What should you know before you call?
Get the inspection before you call your insurer, not after. A written report with photographs gives the adjuster something specific to respond to, and every company here will do the inspection without charging for it.
Ask which crew is doing the work. Several of these companies subcontract at peak, and the answer to "is this your crew or a sub" tells you who to call when a shingle lifts in March. Ask for the warranty in writing and read whether it covers workmanship or only the material, because those are separate documents and only one of them is the roofer's problem.
If you are getting quotes across the county rather than just in town, our guide to the best HVAC companies in Sulphur Springs uses the same local-first method, and the Sulphur Springs city guide collects everything we have published here.
What should you do next?
Call Triple Crown first if you want the deepest paper trail, and Nunez first if you want a residential job done by the owner of a small local shop. Get both quotes. They will not be close enough to make the decision for you, but the gap tells you what each one is charging for.
If hail took the siding and the gutters along with the roof, start with COR instead and quote the whole thing as one restoration. And if the estimate you are holding came from someone who knocked on your door this week, check them against our full roofing directory before you sign anything at all.
