How did we pick these?
We started with every company that turns up in an HVAC search for Paris, then threw out everything that could not produce a Lamar County address. That cut is where most of the work happened. Search results for a town this size are dominated by service-area landing pages built by companies an hour or three away, and they look identical to a local shop until you try to find a street.
What survived got checked against the Lamar County Chamber directory, Better Business Bureau files, contractor licence records, and manufacturer dealer directories, which are useful precisely because a company cannot buy its way onto them the way it can buy a "top rated" badge. There are no partners, sponsors or paid placements on this list. Hello Web Designs has HVAC clients in Sulphur Springs and Krum, and neither one is in Paris, so nothing was added or removed on any basis other than the record.
A few real companies did not make the ten. Pfiester Heating & Air at 3455 N Main St publishes its licence number, TACLB00134807R, which is more than several older shops do, but everything else about it traces back to its own site and its own Facebook page. It looks like a newer operation and it may well earn a spot next year. Reno Air answers a Paris phone number and has no street address we could confirm anywhere. We also published no review counts or star averages, because the aggregators disagree by an order of magnitude on the same company, and no prices, because nobody in this market posts one.
What should you know before you call?
The season decides everything about how this goes. Between late June and early September every shop in Lamar County is triaging, and the difference between a company that answers and one that does not has more to do with their queue that morning than their quality. If your system is limping in May, deal with it in May.
Ask for the licence number and check it. It takes a minute on the TDLR site and it separates a licensed contractor from a truck. Ask whether a quoted replacement includes new line set and duct modifications or just the equipment, because that is where two quotes on the same house diverge by thousands.
| Company | Best for | Licence class | On the record since |
| Paris Air Conditioning Co. | Whole-house work and custom duct | Contractor licensed | 1969 |
| Jamar Contractors | Trane equipment, replacement quotes | Contractor licensed | 1990 per BBB |
| Economy A/C & Heating | Houses outside the city limits | Contractor licensed | 1993 |
| Todd Comfort Solutions | Oversized or commercial systems | Class A | Not published |
| Commercial Air | Weekend residential repair | Contractor licensed | Not published |
| D&P Contractors | Refrigeration and restaurant equipment | Class A | 1977 |
What about the rest of Northeast Texas?
Paris sits far enough from the Metroplex that the DFW companies do not really service it, which is good news. The nearest genuine alternatives are in Sulphur Springs, about an hour south, and those are worth knowing if you own property in both counties. We ranked that market separately in the best HVAC companies in Sulphur Springs, where the field is deeper and the licence records are easier to check.
For everything else in town, the Paris city guide collects what we have published here, and our HVAC guides for other Texas cities cover the same ground elsewhere. If the air conditioner problem turns out to be an attic problem, start with the best roofers in Paris instead, since a failing roof deck and a starved return duct produce very similar summer electric bills.
What should you do next?
Call Paris Air Conditioning Co. first. Fifty-seven years in one town, a manufacturer's own dealer designation and a sheet metal shop on site is a combination nobody else here matches, and for most houses in Paris it is simply the right answer.
If you are replacing rather than repairing, get Jamar's free estimate as your second number, and take a third from Economy or Commercial Air so you have a spread rather than a pair. If you own a restaurant, a church or anything with a walk-in, skip all of that and phone D&P Contractors, because the size ceiling that limits most shops here does not apply to them.
