How did we pick these?
Burleson is a Fort Worth suburb of roughly fifty thousand people, and the first job was separating the chains from the town. The retail strips along Wilshire Boulevard and the I-35W frontage carry Chili's, Red Lobster, El Fenix, MOD Pizza, Black Bear Diner, Denny's, Texas Roadhouse and most of the national fast food brands. None of that is why anyone searches for the best restaurants in Burleson.
So we started with Old Town, the two or three blocks of South Main and West Ellison that the city has spent twenty years rebuilding, and we leaned on two pieces of local press that actually sent somebody there. CultureMap's Old Town Burleson guide and Fort Worth Magazine's Burleson feature between them named most of the independents. Then we checked every one of those names against the business's own website, and that is where this article earned its keep.
Moontower Pizza Bar, the restaurant both of those guides led with, is permanently closed at 137 South Wilson Street. Listings say it is becoming Moontower Bar Grill in a larger building in Crowley, and we could not confirm that it has opened, so it is off the list. The Hickory Tree Grill is not in Burleson at all. It is at 101 North Main Street in Joshua, a different town eight miles south, and it turns up in Burleson roundups because aggregators do not respect city limits. Spice Rack Bar and Grille on South Wilson has one listing calling it open and another calling it closed with no date on either, so we are not sending you there until that resolves. Dwell Coffee and Biscuits started in Burleson in 2014 and is a genuinely loved local business, but its own website was down every time we tried it, we could not confirm the Burleson street address against any official source, and no current hours are published anywhere, so it comes back when we can verify it.
That is four of the eight names the press guides gave us, which is what happens when you check an eight year old article instead of reprinting it.
No partner, client or sponsored listing appears on this article. Nothing in Burleson or Johnson County matched our client file, so this is a straight editorial list.
What should you know before you go?
Burleson splits into Old Town and everything else, and Old Town is the entire point. Five of these restaurants sit on two blocks of South Main, at numbers 108, 112, 114, 120 and 210, with the brewpub one street over. You park once.
| Restaurant | Where | Service window | Best for |
| Station 330 | 210 S Main | To 10pm, 11pm Friday and Saturday | The best meal in town, book it |
| Babe's Chicken | 120 S Main | Lunch and dinner daily | A table of six, family style |
| Old Texas Brewing | 112 W Ellison | Lunch through evening | Beer brewed on site, and the rooftop |
| Pandan Thai | 114 S Main | Lunch and dinner | Thai, and the biggest review base here |
| The Rim | 295 E Renfro | 10am or 11am to 10pm | Sunday, and the afternoon gap |
| Fresco's | 112 S Main | From 4pm on weekdays | Mexican, tableside guacamole |
| Grumps Burgers | 108 S Main | 11am to 9pm, closed Sunday | Burgers, and the 3pm happy hour |
| Miranda's | 327 S Burleson Blvd | From 11am, closed Monday | Cheap tacos, weekday lunch |
The practical read: weekday lunch in Old Town is thinner than it looks, because Fresco's does not open until four Tuesday through Thursday and Grumps shuts on Sunday. If you want Old Town at its best, come Friday or Saturday evening, when everything is open and Station 330 and Old Texas Brewing both have music on.
Two things worth knowing about the listings. Burleson sits on the Johnson County line with Fort Worth and Crowley either side, and aggregators routinely file restaurants from Joshua, Crowley and south Fort Worth under Burleson. Check the street address, not the city tag. And the turnover in Old Town is real, as the Moontower closure shows, so a guide written more than a year ago is not a reliable list.
How does Burleson fit into a Fort Worth weekend?
Old Town Burleson is about fifteen miles south of downtown Fort Worth on I-35W, which is twenty to twenty five minutes outside rush hour. That makes it an evening rather than an expedition, and a better one than most of the suburban strips on that corridor, because the restaurants here are on a real street rather than in a parking lot.
If you are building a weekend around it, the best restaurants in the Fort Worth Stockyards covers the other end of the drive, the best day trips from Fort Worth covers what else is within range, and the best restaurants in Granbury covers the next square down the same road. The Burleson city guide and the restaurants category hold the rest of our coverage.
What should you do next?
Book Station 330 for a Friday or Saturday evening and walk the two blocks of South Main before dinner, because that is Burleson at its best and the only configuration where everything on this list is open at once.
If you are bringing a group or children, go to Babe's instead and let the sides come round the table. If it is a weekday lunch and Old Town is half shut, Grumps at 108 South Main is open from eleven and Miranda's on Burleson Boulevard is cheaper still. And if the weather is good, finish on the roof at Old Texas Brewing, which is the only rooftop in town and the thing people remember about Burleson afterwards.
